M.Ö. 333 yılında Antik Yunan’da gerçekleşen İssos Savaşı’nı konu edinen tablo, dünya manzarası olarak bilinen Rönesans manzara resminin en bilinenlerinden biri olarak karşımıza çıkıyor. Modern yorumcular, Albrecht Altdorfer’in, eserinde Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ile Avrupa ihtilafı arasında benzerlik kurmaya çalıştığını öne sürüyor. İskender’in Saldırısı, Münih’teki Alte Pinakothek sanat müzesinde sergileniyor.

This month’s cover photo of the #SecurityPortal is German painter Albrecht Altdorfer ‘s 1529 painting “The Battle of Alexander at Issus”. The Battle of Alexander at Issus is considered the masterpiece of Albrecht Altdorfer born in 1480. The painting, which depicts the Battle of Issos in ancient Greece in B.C. 333, is one of the most famous examples of Renaissance landscape painting known as the world landscape. Modern commentators suggest that Albrecht Altdorfer tries to establish a similarity between the Ottoman Empire and the European conflict in his work of art. Alexander’s Attack is on display at the Alte Pinakothek art museum in Munich.
